Exclamation Missing BRIDGE object in query

I don't see any BRIDGE information object in the object query for any bridges.
It's definitely in the chart because SeaIQ displays it.
This object contains details of the type of bridge, horizontal and vertical clearance, etc.

I'm running OpenCPN 5.8.4-0+1637c28 on MacOS 14.3.1 on my M1 MacBook Air.

The specific object I was looking at is Park Street Bridge located at 37.771677, -122.36562 on NOAA ENC chart US5CA13M.

The same happens for the Golden Gate Bridge, except there is even less information.

Which "Display Category" are you using? "Hamburger" down right. Are you in "Base" for example? Try "All" for example...

Display Category set to "All".
Does the display category filter what appears in the object query, or just what appears on the chart view itself?

Re: Missing BRIDGE object in query

I just completely removed OpenCPN and all the configuration files, then reinstalled.
Still having the same problem of no BRIDGE objects.

Interestingly, the chart object search plugin does find the bridge objects and can show me where they are on the chart, but does not show me any of the detailed info about the object.

Re: Missing BRIDGE object in query

Can you clarify?
Is the bridge not showing on the chart display? Or is it displaying correctly but you are unable to find it with the search plugin?

Re: Missing BRIDGE object in query

The bridge is correctly displayed on the chart.
When one does an "object query" by clicking on the bridge, there is not "BRIDGE" object in the displayed object query box that pops up.
The object query should show the BRIDGE object with associated details such as type of bridge, horizontal and vertical clearance, etc.
The search plugin IS finding the bridge object and can find the correct location on the chart.

Re: Missing BRIDGE object in query

Can you post a screenshot of what is displayed? The golden gate bridge is found on my installation.

Re: Missing BRIDGE object in query

Here's a screenshot. I double clicked right on the RACON at the center of the Golden Gate Bridge.

It looks like you are missing not only the bridge, but lots of information. Can you get information from buoys or any other objects? Is the object query completely broken on your installation?

Instead of double clicking, can you right click (ctrl-click on a Mac IIRC) and select object query from the context menu?

I tried selecting various points on the bridge and around it. There were a couple spots it didn't find it, but usually found it even if not directly selecting it. But it always found several other objects referring to the greater area, the north or south pylon, or something nearby.

Re: Missing BRIDGE object in query

This is interesting. You get different results depending on if you double click vs use the context menu (ctrl-click on my Mac). I had the cursor directly on the RACON again. If I ctrl-click, and select Object Query... from the context menu I get the right stuff. The BRIDGE object (an area), the RACON (a point) and a bunch of other objects.

I wonder if the position of the cursor is somehow being misinterpreted in the case of the double click? I bet it thinks it is a different place on the chart.

Any idea where the bit of code that gets these clicks is?

Re: Missing BRIDGE object in query

steveberl...

There was a commit made to master branch on github correcting a query problem in dual canvas mode. Maybe it applies here, on MacOS.

https://github.com/OpenCPN/OpenCPN/issues/3658

Thanks
