MBTiles don't show up randomly

Hi, I have an issue difficult to explain. Produced with QGIS (raster tools, XYZ-tiles (MBTiles)) a serie of MBTiles files containing arial IR photos of the Dutch Wadden Sea. Using Dutch RD-coordinates (Amersfoort coordinates, EPSG:28992). Using zoomlevels 1 to 16 and png 600 dpi. The 'production' of the MBTiles files works fine. Put them in a seperate folder. Made a chartgroup for them, scan and rebuild chart database in OpenCPN (several times). Now the files, parts of the Dutch Wadden Sea, show or do not show up randomly. I can't find a pattern in when OK en when not. It also shifts over time. So, randomly parts of the coverend area with several MBTiles files can be used, other parts can't. Not helpfull when sailing. Charts/MBTiles that don't show up are also not visible in the pianobar. OpenGL on. Thought it was a conflict between graphic cards and drivers. But that's not the case because this issue happens on two devices (desktop and laptop). What am I missing?

Re: MBTiles don't show up randomly

It is hard to say without actually seeing how your files look and how the area is covered by them.

Re: MBTiles don't show up randomly

Do they load in other mbtile viewers? Can you load them one at a time in OpenCPN?
Do they have the right metadata?

Re: MBTiles don't show up randomly

Find attached a screenshot with a random situation of showed and not showed retangles of MBTiles files. The whole covered area in the screenshot has MBTiles available. Mark that the areas where no MBTiles files do show up they also not visible (e.g. de-activated) in the pianobar. The files itself are too large (around 50 Mb each) to upload. Will this screenshot help to understand the issue?

Re: MBTiles don't show up randomly

All the prepared files load occassional, sometimes they all show up, but I happenes that they are disapeared the next time I load OpenCPN and/or update the chart database. I asume the metadata is right, using the XYZ to MBTiles algoritme of QGIS. Where can I check the metadata within the MBTiles?

Re: MBTiles don't show up randomly

All the files loads fine (and all together) in QGIS. It is an OpenCPN issue, and for me unpredictable.

Very unreadable At least please enclose stuff like this in the CODE tags next time to preserve formatting.
Yes, I was imagining something like what I see on your screenshot.

The algorithm composing the chart canvas was not optimized for tiled MBtiles coverage, as you can clearly see. The best I can suggest at the moment is to merge the various MBtiles files together. You can do it either in your production workflow or by merging the resulting MBTiles databases.
The size is not an issue, we have seen multigigabyte files work just fine.

OK thanks, worth trying. I will report the results later.

Re: MBTiles don't show up randomly

Hi all, problem seems to be solved. Thanks to Nohal for the help. Solution? Less 'file-borders' by covering larger areas in one mbtiles-file, combined with not-complex filenames. I have skipped the habit to include coordinates and dpi in the filenames, just a toponym. Although the issue is not over completely it works for now.

Re: MBTiles don't show up randomly

Is it worthwhile adding a note somewhere in the documentation?
