Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

So far, so good. I am really impressed. Thanks to all those who make it happen.

I just started with Logbook, but am stuck in initial configuration: I cant find the logbook layouts zip file which is requested. The user manual states to download it thru the official download page, but I cant find a way.

Can anybody help with this? Thanks

Patrick

Patrick...
Simply go back to the download page, it has been modified so it is now hopefully obvious how to download the layouts.

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Is this plugin developed further? Have noticed that many "customisation" ideas are not finished or implemented. e.g user defined sailsconfig doesnt get updated / saved for next reboot.

Its a great tool and would deserve finishing

This should work.
What OS are you running on?
I don't see this problem on the systems I am running on.

Win10: eg want only sail Main/Full/1/2/3, G0/1/2/3, Spi, Try, Storm
cannot delete unnecessary lines and thereby less tickboxes when making log entry

Use NMEA value of wind/depth/watertemp etc automatically in log entry.

Also layout change of html templates is cumbersome, would be nice to have a drag/drop/delete/add mode for field layouts.

I think these are more feature requests.
I will look into it.

I don't know what you mean with this. The NMEA data should be automatically added at this moment.
Which NMEA sentences are you using for wind/depth/temp?

Hi all, new registered user today playing with openCPN.

MBP OSX El Captain, OCPN V 4.4.0.Build 2016-05-31

As per above, logbook layouts for a MAC do NOT download as a ZIP.
So there is NO ZIP file to load into OCPN.

MAC it seems breaks the files out into separate directories/files. On a hunch, I re-named the folder and added the "zip" extension.

Went back into Logbook to try and install again. This time was looking really good, it found them and told me it saved them to:

/user/-your macbook name-/Library/Preferences/opencpn/plugins/logbook/data/HTML/Layouts/

as well as the other 3 files..eg: ODT/Layouts/, data/Clouds/, data/images/

Confirming, they are indeed there.
Launching Logbook......but no joy. No LAYOUTS.

I am now officially stumped.

Anyone got this working on a Mac?

TIA

Howie

Ok..its all good. I checked the locations, and even tho the various "Folders" were there, HTML_Layouts, ODT_Layouts, Clouds, but they were empty. I manually went back to my download, open the same named folders , copy/paste into path location.

It now works. One caveat. In that PATH, there is an "images" folder, which is empty. Re-downloading layouts again, and there is NO images Folder??

Thoughts??

Is the expected behaviour?? Or..what is the "images" folder used for??

I can't speak for the official version because I use my own version for Mac but the images folder is intended for images of the buildin HTML help file for Logbook (Help.html). Further images are found in the "Clouds" folder.

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

I have a question regarding the FindIt plug-in on a Win10 machine and I'm hoping this is the right place to post the query. (Please advise is this is not the case and where else to post.)

On Windows10, FindIt appears to use an XML file which it expects to reside in C:/Program Data/opencpn/plugins/FindIt .

Basically, I'd like to relocate the file to OneDrive--a cloud service I use for many boat-related files that I find convenient synchronize and access from multiple locations/computers. Is there any way to change the location of the XML file and have OCPN find it? I can't seem to find any reference to the findit.xml file in either the INI or LOG files....

Perhaps this is a feature request. Anyone else think this might be useful?

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

The location of this file is hard coded and cannot be changed.

I do not know if it would work for Windows, but you can try: move the file where you want it (the OneDrive folder) and replace it with a short-cut.

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

I have already raised a request in the opencpn flyspray #2233 to make the NMEA WIMDA more tolerant to accept also from other sources like OCMDA, This way users can get meteo data from generic sources entered automatically.

Having installed the logbook also on my raspi 3 and operate under VNC I noticed that the various dialogues do not scale. It is therefore sometimes impossible to enter data on small displays (like 800x600) - is anyone developing / debugging this plugin further ? It would be a shame to be left as is!

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hello,

I discovered logbookkonni a few months ago, and this electronic logbook is really fantastic.
I am currently connecting the nmea sentences like gps, wind, rpm, barometer, temperature, ...

To avoid forgetting to launch the logbook each time by switching on opencpn, I would like the logbookkonni to start automatically as soon as opencpn is started.
A batch command must be suitable for this, and I can write the instruction to run opencpn.
But I do not find what is the instruction to add, to launch this plugin at the same time as opencpn ?

If anyone has an idea, I will be very grateful.

Cheers and happy new year
