Thanks Dave,
Had forgotten about the long touch. Have updated Squiddio wiki.

Re: JimSke's General Questions about OpenCPN Android
Yes. Unless you're in the correct Zoom mode you can't see the tide and current. Therefore it would be helpful if the toggle menu would indicate on or off. Right now you click on or off but you may not know which is which.

Re: JimSke's General Questions about OpenCPN Android
Another thing still giving me trouble.
Ex:. Added directory enc Florida. Updated. The charts seemed to upload and the Florida file in my chart file. Chart shows areas outlined green line but cannot open those areas.
Thanks

Re: JimSke's General Questions about OpenCPN Android
Jim, Maybe try to update the database? in Options - Charts.
Also you can learn about making chart groups, which you can access with a long touch on the screen then pick the chart group you want, that will speed things up for your device if you have a lot of charts downloaded.
The other thing I will do is zoom in to force the chart to draw and build a "senc" file (if you are using Enc vector charts).
Which type of charts are you using?
If you tap the lower chart buttons doesn 't that make the chart draw?

Re: JimSke's General Questions about OpenCPN Android
When I zoom in it does force a build but not in all adjacent areas
Using the ENC files.
When I tap the green buttons nothing happens mostly. Sometimes it does what it's supposed to do.
I'm thinking that I don't have all the charts. downloaded.
Still playing with it. Thanks

Re: JimSke's General Questions about OpenCPN Android
Jim,
If you tap a chart button, it may have already done the SENC file and so you will need to zoom in to see the chart because it is small scale.
Also go to Options > Charts > Chart Files > and "Prepare all ENC Charts" and be prepared to wait a long time while all the SENC files are created. Then your use of Vector Charts should be much faster with no waiting for creation of SENC files as you pan and zoom.

Many programs around to uncompress .zip files.
For an older version of Winzip try this one.

I don't see prepare all ENC files when I open up chart files
Also. What is the significance of all the circles on my charts?

Re: JimSke's General Questions about OpenCPN Android
The circles are Lights from light houses etc.
Hit "L" to get rid of them [each time you open Opencpn, this setting is not saved -it should be]
Same with hitting "A" which removes information about anchoring, then bottom..
The Prepare ENC is under Options > Charts > Chart Files and look at the bottom.

Re: JimSke's General Questions about OpenCPN Android
Okay. LOL I have to give a tutorial to a guy here at the marina who is having trouble with opencpn. I now have a notebook that I'm using instead of the smartphone. So I may have some more questions.

Jimske,
I am pretty sure that basics questions will find an answer in user book accessible (? sign in the software).

I assume you're talking about needing a keyboard to hit "L" ? On-screen keyboard doesn't show up when I open.
(The Prepare ENC is under Options > Charts > Chart Files and look at the bottom.)
Go to the bottom says update control and gives option scan charts or Force full database rebuild.
I'm just getting options for vector or raster charts.
