I have a Simrad AP25 autopilot, checking to see if its compass is N2K, and its' bus is accessible.

But then you need the RIxx interface box!

Couldn't you get a heading from AP25 via serial NMEA0183 to OCPN instead?

BTW:
If you have a N2K bus with heading you can also use a N2k connection in OCPN. But you'll need a N2k-USB converter.
