running Windows 7. I have a USB Transystem GPS Model GM-2
Driver is already set in computer. any advice on how to get
program to read this GPS

OCPN 4.2?
Did you read the corresponding chapter in the help/manual file?

At the Options/Communications tab you will need to create the entry for your USB device. The COM port. Baud rate will be most probably 4800 for plain GPS - but check the documentation of the puck just in case.

when we upgraded to windows 7 (yuck) we found our puck would not work with it -- we got a Hamlet gps receiver that is blue tooth and works great with OpenCPN and windows 10 (yuck)
