Re: Google Earth Plugin

David,
it looks like your GE installation might be missing the icon used. It should look like the attached screenshot. Currently there's no way to change the icon, but it should be pretty easy to do, please add a feature request in OpenCPN::Tracker Google Earth - plugin: Tasklist and I will take care of it the next time I will be working on the plugin.

Pavel,
I'm in the process of registering with flyspray.

The first time I tried the gps and the GEplugin the chart was zoomed out and the Ocpn icon was a double circle and the GE icon was the x in a box. After seeing your screenshot, I tried it again; this time with the chart zoomed in far enough for Ocpn to have a boat icon. When I activated the GE plugin I got the same blue ball icon as your screenshot. Now it comes up with the blue ball regartless of the zoom level.

Thanks for that and also to Paul for his email.

OK .. I have REX installed and used GE2KAP.rex to get the window you showed.

When I select a location for the chart, name it 'XXXX.kap', press 'Create chart' then 'View chart' I get an image 'XXXX.bmp' and it's all black.

Can't upload images for some reason but have one to show.

@Terry

The chart created should be a .kap file not an image. How are you viewing this .bmp file? Presumably in an viewer other than opencpn? you'll have to include the directory that you save your .kap files to in the charts paths in OCPN too if you haven't already put them in a known directory.

I have installed the GE plugin, have the latest OCPN 2.5

Windows 7

When GE is docked in OCPN the bottom of GE is hidden under the OCPN status bar. I can just see the top of the "save" button; which is still clickable.

Everything works fine except for this minor presentation issue.

Re: Google Earth Plugin

Chris,
it happens just when you have chart on the left and GE on the right hand side, right?

I viewed the chart using 'View Chart' which brings it up in the 'demo' window as a .bmp although I have saved it as a .kap. When I point OpenCPN to the folder containing the 'chart' (which has the .kap suffix), it displays the black image.

Sequence of what I did shown in the attached images.

Re: Google Earth Plugin

yachtvalhalla,

Could you email me the GE2KAP.log after you create the kap that is blank. The log is in the same directory as GE2KAP.rex. It may look like a text file.

Also, does GE2KAP create a good chart when OpenCPN is not runiing?

Email of log file sent.

Yes, I did a good chart with just Google Earth running and it worked OK. FYI, I am using GE version 6.0.1.2032 (beta) since I have heaps of caches saved with that version and they don't work with later versions.

2.5 works fine with GE2KAP

Whatever the cause, I am now able to use GE2KAP with 2.5.

Kudos to all.

Re: Google Earth Plugin

What am I missing? The Google Earth window remains blank.

I have Windows 7, OpenCPN Version 2.5.0 Build 2011-07-26, Google Earth Plugin v0.8. The gecomapi_win32_pi15_v08_pi.dll is in the plugin folder and the plugin is enabled within OpenCPN.

What do I need to make the Google Earth Plugin work?

Re: Google Earth Plugin

Moose,
hard to say. Could you please download https://github.com/downloads/nohal/O...i15_v07_pi.dll , try to run it instead of the version 0.8 and post the relevant part of the logfile. Beware, this version is producing a lot of messages, so strip the log just to the part regarding the last run.

Thanks

Pavel

I had the same problem.

I just downloaded the Plug in again, put it in the Plug ins folder and deleted the old one.

Worked fine after that.
