Re: Google Earth Plugin

Hi,

it would be helpful if the Plugins download page at opencpn.org included instructions about what to do with the plugin after you've downloaded the .dll file. (where to copy it to)

thanks,
Hamish

Re: Google Earth Plugin

also, the download page is not clear that you need the beta build to use the current google plugin download link. Could an old version of the plugin which works with stable/2.3.1 also be linked there?

thanks,
Hamish

Re: Google Earth Plugin

Hamish,
the 2.3.1 plugin API is not enough for the GE plugin, so there's no version working with it. The versioning and instructions will be handled "somehow" once we settle down a bit - right now the development is a little turbulent...

Thanks for reminding me to do that

Pavel

Re: Google Earth Plugin

I just rebuilt this plugin updated with 1.5 API.
Would you mind testing and report (I hope Pavel's github repo is uptodate)

Re: Google Earth Plugin & 3.4.523

Can't seem to get the GE plug in to work with the latest beta build. The Plugins tab in the toolbox won't show the GE plugin as available to even activate or configure. Shows GRIB and Dashboard, but not GE.

I downloaded the plugin fresh to make sure - V0.7, copied it into the plugins folder like always.

Are we waiting for a new version o the GE plugin, or a I doing something dense?

Also, with the previous build, I seem to have lost the knack of docking the GE plugin. Can someone remind me what the trick is?

thanks on both counts.

Make double sure you have the latest version of the pluging, and in the right folder.
http://github.com/downloads/nohal/Op...ecomapi_pi.dll

Open OpenCpn and check the .log file if the GE pluging fails to load. There will be a report.

To dock GE, click on its icon (the striped white and blue ball) in the toolbar

Re: Google Earth Plugin

thanks for the fast come-back. I redownloaded latest, copied into plugins folder, still no go.

Where do I find the log file? I checked the install log, but of course that only addresses the plugins that come with the .exe download.

Also, when I click on the GE icon in the toolbar, GE starts as a floating window, not docked. Any idea how to force it to dock?

thanks

Take the GE window with your mouse and put it to the left or rigth of screen ....

Re: Google Earth Plugin

Guys...
I've just updated the github download with the version recompiled against OpenCPN 2.4.523 (needed because of the unfortunate API change in 2.4.506)
Please go to PlugIns | Official OpenCPN Homepage and get the updated DLL there (you don't have to if you already downloaded the DLLs published by Netsurfer or SethDart in the beta thread)
Please also note that the naming of the DLL changed, so you will have to manually delete the old one, as it won't be replaced.

Sorry for any confusion

Pavel

Re: Google Earth Plugin

Nohal - thanks. lovin it. one (tiny) thing to look at - ofen the GE position doesn't lock on to match the the chart viewpoint until the second click. (i'm working with follow chart viewpoint checked.)

a tip on docking the GE window - I work with two monitors in an extended desktop format - so when I push the GE window to the edge of OCPN, it merely slides onto the next monitor rather than docking. easy to work around - just turn one screen off momentarily.

thanks for all the help!

Re: Google Earth Plugin

No it's not normal. If you have the latest version of the plugin, it should work with 2.4.612 without problems. If you have the version which was compiled for the versions prior to 2.4.523, it does not work with the latest betas.
If your problems persist, please post your logfile so I can have a look what's wrong.

Re: Google Earth Plugin

I'm having some difficulty with the "handles" for the GE window. I'm running 2.4.612, the latest vers of the plugin, and Windows XP

Case 1: 1. I stretch the right side of the window to the right maybe 2 inches. 2. When I want to stretch the right side of the window to the left, after much experimentation, I find the handle about 2 inches to the right of the window.

Case 2: 1. I stretch the bottom edge of the window almost to the Windows XP bar. 2. Now I can no longer find the handle for the GE window.

Is there some file I can alter to reset the plugin to its defaults?
