Re: Beta Test / Technical

I just downloaded 4.1.1301 on my older dell opengl on.
The icons look crisper
It may be my imagination but RNC's looker crisper too.

I had a non reproducible situation with ENC's. I switched from the RNC group to the ENC group. Lots and lots of time with the spinning wheel, no SENC messages, until I finally got a screen. I think I started zooming in and I got a black screen. I sat for a while and then clicked the screen reduce button and I got a reduced screen with the charts showing. I next maximized the screen and found that all ENC objects (depths, lights etc) were black rectangles. Next I turned Opengl off and the objects were rendered properly. I turned Opengl on and all was fine.

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Dave, Maybe you should do a Rebuild charts db?
Sometimes I find that helps particularly with changes to charts.

There were no chart changes. I rather suspect the cache.

Yes, maybe clear it as you probably have done.

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Hi,

is this the right place to post reports about the current OpenCPN version 4.1.XXX?
I am contributor to OpenSeaMap and we recently started to pre-produce chart bundles of kap-charts from our online map for download and offline use.
These chart bundles work fine with OpenCPN 3.2 but we get reports about 'regularly' crashes with OpenCPN 4.1.XXX.

If this is the right place, please tell me how to proceed. I can provide a link to these chart bundles if it would be ok here.

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Alexej,

please post at the RC(2)4.1.1317 thread - this the most actual version and receives most attention.

- What happens with 4.0?
- Tested with which version of 4.1.x?
- Crashes: please provide a small group of charts which are reported to crash
- Which OS?
- OpenGL on/off?

Bdbcat, Pavel
Should we be building ALL plugins with
OpenCPN_buildwin-svg.7z expanded into buildwin?

What else is required to have svg icons for the plugin?

Re: Beta Test / Technical

I am using W10, with a Dell XPS15 with a screen resolution of 3840x2160.
No problem with V4.0
With 4.2 the program opens in a small window (about 40% of the surface area or 2/3 high and wide of the full screen). The text and tabs are very small. If I use full screen the program does not answer and i need to close it.
I tried to reduce the screen resolution but same problem.
Plug in keep the same size than in 4.0 so the cover a large space of the map.
In WR some windows are so small that is not possible see the number.

I solved problems using OpenGL. I continue to have a problem with WR.

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Hi everyone,

i dunno if im at the right place in this forum to ask my questions on OpenCPN V4.2 .
I just downloaded it and upgraded over V 4.0.
Problems are many ...
V 4.0 was working xtra fine ....
When i start, i have no map, NOAA or Canadian make no difference.
Yes i did forced map database update.
And also, on opening i have a message telling that the plugin for BSB 4 is obsolete, i have the latest one.
I also tried to remove all maps folders from Open CPN and put them in again with no results .
Anyone have a hint on that ?
I even tried to install the previous version back, V 4.0 , with same results, no maps at all ...

Robert,

What operating system do you use?

Do you know where the file opencpn.log is on your computer? If so, make a copy and rename it opencpn.doc and attach it to a message here.

Hi,
I have Win7, and i dont think its the problem, i use same laptop with OpenCpn since v 3.2 and it always worked fine.

There is also another strange problem ...when first opening it, there is no valid «options» icon, i need to click on another icon to make it valid and then open it.
And adding a new charts directory make it crash.

I found the opencpn.log file, its a txt file and quite large since all attemps i made to make it work .
By looking at this .log file, i found out it successfully updated my Canadian charts database, but why i dont have any of them on screen is mystery
Same for trying to attach the .log file here ... it doesnt work.
I'm thinking to un-install everything and try again.

I will be at work from tomorrow and will have limited Internet access for the next 2 weeks, so my answers here might not be on time.

Re: Beta Test / Technical

To attach your log file (or the newest part of it) change the file type to .doc

The forum does allow bigger uploads then. Being new to the forum it might take some time until your attachment appears.
