Active route display colors

I've recently started using OpenCPN while underway (I was previously using it mostly as a planning tool), and I'm having a hard time reading the "Active route console window" in bright sunlight.

Is there a way to change it to black on white instead of green on black?

If not, would that be a possible new feature?

You can easily change the color of the text with "Console Value" & "Console Legend". See Options->User Interface.

The black background is set in the code, so short of changing this value and recompile, there is no way. I have not tested this way, but ...warning for unforeseen consequences as the value is used in other places of the code.

Please enter a feature request in the tracker, to make the background color user settable.

Thank you Thomas, I managed to find the setting after asking the question on the forum (why do I always find what I'm looking for _after_ asking for help...).

I'll enter a request for the background color.

That looks OK!. I also took the opportunity to vote for the task as I think that it is a valid request.
