Access to Active Captain Data

We're slowly making a switch to OpenCPN on our Nav computers and mobile devices. One area that we are still missing is access to Active Captain community information (anchorages, snorkeling, dinghy docks, etc.)


Is there a way to get access to this information without needing to subscribe to something like navionics? We don't need charts, just the POIs.


We are using Squiddio but there is very little information that has been added when compared to AC. We're adding as we go though.

No, there is no way to integrate what's left of ActiveCaptain to OpenCPN.

If there's no way to integrate with OpenCPN, the Aqua Map app can have AC markers incorporated... and depending on where you boat, makes a decent backup to whatever a primary nav system might be.

We find it especially useful along the US AICW, since USACE survey data is available as an in-app purchase. It can also incorporate the Waterway Guide markers...

Access to AC is available through the AC app and the Active Captain web site.

Try Squiddio_pi it is the closest substitute to Active Captain and it has some very nice features. This plugin is truly opensource and Marco has an excellent website which supports the plugin. The world community has provided input, creating POI. Also Noaa bouy and weather information is available.
