5.6.2 only starts first time

running Windows 10, 21H2.

When first installing, i can add m data connections, and add my maps that are mounted on a local Cd drive and all works great.

however restart OCPN and the program just hangs. nothing in windows logs.

removing and reinstalling is the only option i have found to get this working...not ideal....

any help great appreciated.

Take a look at the "Help" icon on the toolbar . Big Question Mark. There you will find the logfile location.

Suggest you disable (temporarily) your network configuration on OCPN. Verify that OCPN starts and restarts normally. If it does, this will narrow down our investigation considerably.

Fresh install (5.6.2), only change made was to add charts. I'm getting the same behaviour; on 2nd and subsequent starts of OCPN, the app goes into a 'not responding state'.

A simple reboot does not resolve the situation.

Are you running any other Antivirus software but the Windows Defender?

Only running bit defender

Bitdefender would be an external AV program. Not the same as the built-in MS Defender...

It's really strange that a reboot doesn't sort the issue.

Did you tried to disable temporarily the "Bit Defender"?

Try this:
1. Delete your current config file (ProgramData/opencpn.ini)
2. Start OCPN, and then immediately exit, without changing any configuration.
3. Try to restart OCPN Will it start?.

hmm well it seems fine t the moment. i have made no changes to correct the situation, and haven't got as far as carrying out the last instruction. i shall monitor for another couple of weeks
