Rotary Drive Type 2

Hi I have a rotary drive type 2 for my hunter sailboat and I need the sprockets and chain to complete my installation....

question

who supplies the chain and the sprockets

and what info do I need to know, so that I get the right size gears (teeth) to work with a EV400 sail

is there anything else I need to know would be a great help

Thankyou

I would imagine Raymarine would have all the pieces to build your set up. Have you asked them?

But Edson has a SS chain they sell and some sprockets too. But you may have to have them bored to whatever size you need.

Re: Rotary Drive Type 2

If gears and chain are all you need look at Grainger or similar suppliers. Most installations use motorcycle chain. Beware of stainless steel chain.

Re: Rotary Drive Type 2

I completed a rotary drive installation this spring. Bought the small sprocket that attaches to the drive from raymarine. Then I ordered the chain from a company specialised in chains. It was a UK standard chain mainly used in transmissions on motorcycles I think. Then I ordered the sprocket that go on the steering wheel from the steering system manufacturer ( in my case Lewmar/Whitlock). They had drawings for my boats system and knew exactly what I needed.

To know which raymarine sprocket size to order you count the number of full rotations on the steering wheel from hardover to hardover. Then you can check a graph in the ray user manual what sprocket you need.

Good luck
