I Pad in Zip Lock Bag?..........
I apologize if this has been discussed before but after searching for a waterproof case for my ipad I tried a zip lock bag which works well.
Any reasons not to use them?

The only bad bit is you save money. Apple wont approve.
I use Glad wrap as my screen cover.

Re: I Pad in Zip Lock Bag?..........
A couple of weeks ago I took a canoe trip down the Turner River in Florida. Not being a great canoist I put my iPhone in a zip lock bag. I went in the water three times with the phone in my pocket. The phone still works. I used a bag I found in the receiving department at my store. It's a little thicker plastic than a sandwich bag and fits the phone better. I think I'll label them as iPhone cases and sell them for ten bucks!

We added a remote monitor on deck and covered it with a bread bag secured with gray tape.

We have always used ziplock bags with our iPad without any ill effects. We replace the bag every few days because with lots of handling it looses some of its transparency.

Ugh. Pinching pennies to protect a $4-800 piece of electronics with a ziplock? Or an old bread bag? Seriously? Just get a real case. We have a Lifeproof for ours, and I have one for my iPhone as well. Just makes life easier, not having to worry.

Wife is big on using zip lock bags on her phones to protect them from water.
She is on #4 now.

Re: I Pad in Zip Lock Bag?..........
Secret tip: With any waterproof bag put something that absorbs water in the bag to catch any drops that get in. A folder paper towel, piece of carton, small towel, etc.

Re: I Pad in Zip Lock Bag?..........
I just saw an ad in a boating magazine for a new iPhone (or maybe it was iPad) waterproof case made by SealLine. No further info...

Re: I Pad in Zip Lock Bag?..........
Aside from the pinholes and perforations that Ziplock bags will get after several days? Some of them aren't fused properly when they are made, and sometimes they leak.
I'd look for a proper waterproof vinyl pouch, from EWAMarine or a computer case company. Not very expensive, and much better protection.
