B&G ZC2 vs Android App

Zeus 3s Mirroring:

I'm looking at options to mirror a helm located Zeus 3s to the nav desk (nothing purchased yet). With HDMI to monitor and ZC2, I’m told by another person as soon as he plugged the ZC2 into the N2K bus, the touch screen function on his android tablet connected to the Zeus stopped working. The power button on the ZC2, shuts down the MFD, not just the ZC2 itself. If you only have one MFD, it doesn’t sound like you can toggle the ZC2 to another (phantom) display to relinquish control. So is it true that if you mirror using a HDMI feed and ZC2 you can never use a tablet for remote control?

The alternative I’ve heard mentioned is to use an android emulator and run the B&G app on the nav desk windows PC and just control it with a mouse (or touch screen?).

Are there differences in functionality between remote usage w/ HDMI Monintor + ZC2 vs Android app on PC w/ emulator? Tradeoffs?

Many thanks.

Re: B&G ZC2 vs Android App

Hello,

I don't know if I have understood the requirement correctly, but I mirror and control my Zeus 2 via Wifi in the same network very simply and smartly with the old android app "Link" and an Oukitel RT2 tablet (rugged tablet, location-independent, Android 12). It is important to download the old com-navico-gofree-4.0.0.apk (https://link-navico-gofree.en.aptoide.com/versions) and preferably also save it on the tablet, as the newer versions have color shifts and are not revised by Navico. After updating the tablet, the newer, not so good version may be installed.
Uninstalling and reinstalling version 4.0.0 is only a matter of moments.
Simply ignore the "shouting" about the old version etc.!
For safety reasons, the autopilot cannot be controlled remotely via the app!
