Unhappy B&G network pilot keeps resetting

My slip neighbor and I took his boat out and commissioned his B&G autopilot. We successfully configured all the settings and we were able to return to the marina using the autopilot. We turned off the autopilot once we were docked and then turned it back on and we are back to UNCOMMIS . He has a B&G ACP1 and B&G network pilot from around 1997. Does the ACP1 have a battery like CMOS batteries that old desktops have?
