Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving, all you Yankees!

Anyone sailing this weekend? I am unfortunately across the ocean from my boat.

Re: Happy Thanksgiving

Not sailing as I am stuck up in the frozen north for a couple of more weeks, but last year we celebrated U.S. Thanksgiving in St. Augustine Florida at a wonderful potluck put on by the St. Augustine Cruisers Association. A wonderful event in a wonderful, cruiser friendly city.

Happy Thanksgiving to all our American friends!

Re: Happy Thanksgiving

Thanks! My wife and I were just discussing our American holidays we enjoyed in foreign countries. 1988 & 89 0n the west coast of Mexico, then 1993 in Puerta La Cruz, Venezuela.

We were usually able to get enough cruisers together to have a local cafe prepare us a dinner. We did not have the big bird, but we ate well. We had a whole roasted pig in La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico. Yum Yum!

Our dinner today is at the home of friends for 50+ years who we sailed across the Atlantic in 1985. We had just arrived in Barbados before Thanksgiving and had flying fish for dinner.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you wherever you may be.

G'Day Tom,

Gee, that brings back memories of good times in the SOC with you guys and lots of others. I wonder if Asadero Hery's is still there?

We're stuck in Hobart for the day, and there are no other Yanks (or other cruisers) around the immediate area, so Thanksgiving celebrations are limited to thinking good thoughts about family, friends and others as well.

Will try to do better for Xmas!

Jim

Re: Happy Thanksgiving

Oh... forgot to answer DH's query! Will be sailing back down the Derwent and then the 'EntreCasteaux channel tomorrow, heading back to Port Cygnet, then further south most likely.

The weather has been absolutely fantastic here for around a fortnight, with blue skies, warmish winds and temperatures in the mid to high twenties. Hardly believe it is springtime in Tasmania! My be about to revert to its usual state soon, with a trough passing over.

OMG,,, I know that here ( in Scotland ) we have , reputedly , some of the finest cruising ground in all the world, ( in our 2 week summer !! ) , but sometimes I wish I was somewhere else, been watching some of the " surf sail ( and cycle ) roam " videos lately and they really make me envious, Australia seems like a very nice place to be living / sailing in... an other is the sea of cortez,,, wish wish wish ...

Re: Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving from NZ.

Lovely long weekend on the water in the Hauraki Gulf, a few hours away from Auckland. Not much wind for sailing, except for an afternoon sea breeze, but the water is warm enough (just!) for swimming. You know summer is nearly here when you have to watch out for swimmers from boats as you enter an anchorage.

Being away from the city is the best part - ignoring the Black Friday retail frenzy is easier when on the water.

Re: Happy Thanksgiving

Had a nice Black Friday Sail on SF Bay. Only thing about today I feel bad about is that I spent money at a corporate store. Starbucks.
