Best Foul Weather Gear for Fat Man

I’m somewhat portly. Which foul weather jacket and bibs fit shorter rounder people best?

Buying carhardt coveralls I’m best in the “short” sizes. I’m stepping on the regulars by the time they are big enough around the middle.

Probably the best foulie gear I've had is my Gill overalls. At the time, weighed almost 200lbs, but am only about 5'2" tall. They are the most comfortable, long lasting ones I've had.

25 years ago, when I first got into sailing, I went shopping to a local chandlerry for weather gear">foul weather gear. I was L size at the time but they had a set of Henri Lloyds CT1000 XL on sail for 70% off. So I went with that. Now, 25 years and 50+ #s later, the jacket is considerably frayed but fits perfectly. The bibs/pants are like new, as I rarely use them, and also a good fit. FWIW.

I think I’m going the grundens route. Doesn’t look nearly as cool but it’s economical.

We won’t be offshore for years so, theoretically, it should spend most of its time hanging in the locker.

The original reason I went with Grundens is I was tired of getting a wet bottom after sitting for hours in pools of water on a night watch. I never found yachty bibs that were 100% waterproof when sitting in a pool of water for hours, but the Grundens will do it.

Grundens are working man’s clothes, the cast/crew of deadliest catch are covered head to toe in Grundens.
