As far as I am concerned, this thread is open for ANY anchor related discussion.

As for the 17 lb. Excel not doing well in the soft mud, keep in mind that the larger versions did not have this problem. Your 100+ pounder is likely to be fine.

Along those same lines, very large Rocna anchors may not suffer in the "sandy mud" (the 45lb. Rocna did suffer).

The effects of scale is topic in which I have only scratched the surface.

Although the "soft mud" seabed that I use is much softer than "normal" mud, I believe that it is much firmer that the soupy mud of places like the Chesapeake. Hopefully, persons with experience from those locations will join any soft mud discussions that my develope.
