Lewmar V4 / V5 motors

Hi guys and gals!

Needing new motors for two Lewmar V4/V5 windlasses. All I can find online is the motor and gearbox. My gearboxes are fine - only need the motors due to excessive corrosion.

Anyone have experience w replacing the motor only on these units?

If you can find the part # for the motor(s), you may be able to find it or equivalents searching the net. Check manuals, part diagrams, etc. for the part #. There are windlass motors available on eBay, but all I found are listed by part #.

Osculati might have access to just the electric motor.

FYI.. My V4’s gearbox failed, so I replaced the entire windlass with a V5. Note that the motor and gearbox on the V5 is larger than the V4. I don’t think they’re interchangeable. The slightly larger V5 assembly did fit my very tight space, and used the same mounting holes in the deck.

Thanks everyone. I just ended up biting bullet. Got the new motor/gearbox assemblies. A V4 for the standby/auxiliary and a V5 for the primary. Both were rotten w corrosion. Not anymore! Now let’s hope things are standardized and the two current gypsies will take the V4 or the V5.

How did you go? I have a good motor and a bad gearbox, V5.

Had to replace motor and gearbox - makes little sense - but that was my option and all fixed now
