Anchor Warranty’s are any of them really any good?

I’m wondering just how good are the warranty’s of the Big Anchor company’s, Fortress, Spade, Manson-Supreme, Ronca-
Some say life time warranty but what does this really mean when it comes time to use this warranty??- lots of little fine print that, well in the end cost you a bundle. I think it’s cheaper to buy a new one then jump thru the hoops of some of these Anchor Company’s warrenty-
Here’s My story- About 20 years ago I bought a Fortress and ruined it by getting it caught in a Bahamas reef then powering the boat in a circle to the point it snapped off my bow pulpit and bent the anchor badly- I then took a sledge hammer to try and unbend it, this made matters worse- it’s been sitting around my place ever since- that’s more than 17 years not being used, I did not want to toss it- On one of the other CF threads I found out that the Anchor was still under warranty after 20 years , and even though it was clearly my fault at ruining this Fortress Anchor the factory Rep “Brian” said send in a picture so we can see what you have, so I did and they replaced it happily, I live nearby so I just drove to the factory and gave me the grand tour of the factory (Ft Lauderdale) and an education while I was there-

They also said I need not drive there they will send it to me in the mail for something like $10-15- I have a Spade & Manson Supreme also , all 3 of these anchors are about as good as you can get, but I’m wondering what kind of warranty experience these others would really give you if you needed it- Here is a Picture of My old Fortress & the new – Thanks Fortress & Brian for exceeding my expectation ,we need more outfits like this for cruisers!!My cost was zero for replacement!

I've trashed several Fortress anchors, and all (or just the parts needed) have been replaced without question... In fact, they don't even want proof of damage. Just ask for a part and they will send it along

I believe your warranty PROBABLY would have been valid UNTIL you hit it with a sledge hammer, will show marks.

Call manufacturer, show picture and see what they say....

Getting blind in mt old age, missed that part. Good deal on Fortress.

Most marine manufacturers stand behind their products better than land companies, at least it seems that way.

That is enlightening.
I bent my previous one on rocks - otherwise was great.
Have just bought another as 2nd/mud anchor. i think it will be great.
thanks for the warranty info
oh and bought one for the dinghy too...

.................................................. Because we seem to be a tight knit community with great forums to discuss our satisfaction or displeasure. Great service from the manufacturer on the anchor and everyone now knows it.

If my 70 pound Beugel anchor ever bends, I don't want to be in the storm that makes it bend.

Here at last is complete proof that there is an alternate universe that some folks live in. My experiences differ (with a couple of notable exceptions including Bebi Electronics in Fiji).

Cheers,

Jim
