Whats this under the genoa track

Ok so I need a bail out here... As part of my deck resurfacing project I have gotten to the genoa track. When I pulled this thing up I found out that there was something underneath it. Maybe it was plastic, maybe it was epoxy but whatever it was it is now laying on the deck in about a hundred different pieces.

Ive tried to identify it, or even the track that I have but have come up with nothing. This track is not like anything else Ive been able to find, it Is the standard T track however it has some type of larger plate just underneath it.

You can see it, kind of, in the picture here.

Picture is too small to see what you have. But, on our boat we put down a couple of layers of fiberglass tape about 3-4" wide under the track. That raises the track about 1/8" above the nearby deck, makes it a little easier to move the cars and helps keep your knuckles from getting scraped up. From your description sounds like something similar, but in plastic that degraded by the sun.

Heres the fullsize pic. The part of course that is now a disaster is underneath this whole assembly you see on the deck.

I am starting to think maybe it is just epoxy and that I should be remolding/rebuilding this using thickened epoxy and some fiberglass tape similar to what you have done.

Looks pretty similar to ours, probably the same idea, raise the track just a little above the deck. I've seen this done with a thin piece of teak, and it's also just molded into the deck of some production boats. With one-offs like ours people come up with their own solutions.
