Wow. It is an old Famet. Had one years ago and it was bullet proof. Worth keeping and should be able to find parts at some of the larger surplus outfits like Minney's

No reason to replace it just because its old, virtually nothing to go wrong with it, not a shiny object though so there is that.

Ok, I found the manual, if you pm me with your mailing address I will copy it and send it to you. I have not been able to find the contact info yet for the who had the parts but I will keep looking.

You are so right about keeping quality things old or not especially when 'new' ,though shiny doesn't cut it and mostly just looks good in those fancy ads .

Ding, ding, ding! You are correct, Sir. Built somewhere on the SF Peninsula (perhaps Redwood City). Had the advantage of a self-contained halyard so the tension on the luff was not applied to the bearings. Some would say "agricultural" in design, but apparently robust.

Chuck,
I researched it and it is American made by a company in Lawrence, Kansas by the name of FaMet but I can't find out if it still exists. Their catch word in ads was Bulletproof. I would love to find a manual and some parts. Although from what I've read they are not prone to any problems.

I don't know what the deal is but I have offered to make a copy of the manual and mail it to you (see post #18) but you need to give me a name and address to send it to. You don't need to post it on here which is why suggested a PM.

Click on clockwork orange. Click on second choice in the drop down list. "Send pm...".

Re: What is this furler? It's from '77
Hi, I'm in the process of resurrecting an Endeavor 43 that has two Famet roller furling systems and I'm need to replace some of the sections. If you found the info of the guy that had spares please let me know. I've straightened some sections but some are broken and need replaced. This sailboat was given to me by a friend and was demasted and severely damaged by Irma in 2017. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

The guys name is David Freer. I don't have a ph # but the email address I have is freer@peoplestelecom.net. I have no idea if it is still current or if he still has parts but give it a try. Please let us know how it turns out.
