Bob Nanse of Nance & Underwood, who have a big shop. I haven't used Pete Ackerman, but he's also said to be very good. Both are in Ft Lauderdale. Don't know if riggers have to be licensed, but make sure whoever you use is insured.

I've used Florida Hydraulic and Rigging and Mack Sails. Out of the two I'd recommend Mack. Call Colin 😉

Mack Sails they just replaced my mast after hit by lightning and came up to Melbourne pulled the mast at the slip as it was so unstable the boat could not be moved and they were here 2 days after being hit they upgraded my rigging and all lines very happy and great follow up service

Re: Florida question - Can anyone recommend a Standing Rigging technician?

Thanks for all the replies and pointers.
I've given Mack Sails a shot at this.
Getting standing rigging and the sails sorted at same place is a 2 birds 1 stone.
They came on Thursday, took the mast down and hauled it away on a trailer with the sails.

Question:
Does anyone usually get their old rigging back and save the lines for backups?

I would always save at least the longest bit, usually the back stay with a spare, matching Sto-Lok to use as a backup.

If the old rigging is in good shape, not rusted, no fish hooks I personally would use that for making jacklines. There are some that say you are using old, possibly defective wire for a critical safety function but when you look at the breaking strength of wire vs the max potential load of a MOB I don't see a problem.

I use Dam Rigging a few years ago. I was quite satisfied. They gave a fair price and were spot on for punctuality.

Just a thought/suggestion
If your going cruising look at doing it yourself. Go with mechanical fittings, do some research, hire a rigger if necessary to help with initial set.
