Fahmet Headsail Furling Systems

Hello everyone,

I'm hoping that someone here is still sailing with one of these early furling systems. I recently handled an insurance claim (I am a marine surveyor) for storm damages to a 43' Pan Oceanic MY. Portions of the rig were damaged, but not the furling system. During the course of repairs, the rig was un-stepped, repairs made, and things put back together. However, it now appears that two pieces of system are missing from the furling drum assembly: an external bushing on the bottom of the furling drum, and a sleeve/collar, the function of which seems to be to stop the lower terminal fitting on the forestay from turning with the system when in use.

Of course, locating a replacement parts resource isn't a possibility. I'm sure the components can be fabricated. If anyone out there has access to one of these systems which is functional and in use, and can send pictures of the underside of the drum assembly and attachment, it would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance -

Re: Fahmet Headsail Furling Systems

Does anyone know how to get the sails off a FaMet furler? I have just bought a Watkins z27 with jib and main(vertical) FaMet furlers...but have no info about them, nor can I see a clear way to remove the sails. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Many thanks,
