Measuring Tank Levels

Hello:

I have a new/used boat. For the grey water tanks it does not have any measuring indicators, so I can't tell how full the tanks are. I have been looking around for measuring indicators so I can monitor the level to know when I need a pump out. Can anyone recommend something?

Thanks.

Re: Measuring Tank Levels

From my notes, this is the system installed on our 2005 H38:
Tank Monitor system
- New Providence Marine Systems, identique à l'existant sur Tuturuga, website ferriellosales.com. Dennis Ferriello. Email: dennis@ferriellosales.com
- Website newprovidencemarine.com call David T. Davis email: support@newprovidencemarine.com
- Profile Tank Monitors (Denis Feriello)

The system works with exterior sensors foil on the tank.

Several forum members have mentioned excellent service from Dennis Ferriello.

Hope you get it solved.

Re: Measuring Tank Levels

I installed the Dometic brand tank monitor system about 5 years ago and it has performed flawlessly. They can be ordered as single, double or triple tank monitors for fresh water, gray water and waste tanks. They shows 4 levels from empty to full. Easy to install and easy to adjust depths.

Re: Measuring Tank Levels

Unfortunately the Profile Tank Monitors are no longer available. The company closed with Dennis Feriello's death in 2020.

SCAD tank level monitors are now top rated and are also very reasonably priced. Scad Tank Monitors

And btw...toilet waste is known as "black" water. "Gray" water is galley, bath and shower water.

Re: Measuring Tank Levels

The only downside to the Dometic tank level monitors (aside from price) and Wema tank monitors is that the senders are on rods INSIDE the tank. Animal waste contains animals fats that can build up on the senders, preventing them from reading the level of the contents. This typically takes 3-5 years depending on toilet use...inaccurate readings are the first clue. This requires removing the unit and cleaning the senders by hand in a bucket of detergent and water...a good scrub brush will come in handy.

The best tank monitors today use senders that are applied to the outside of the tank...they work on any material except metal.
