Re: Volvo penta throttle question

From the manual:
Quote:
Control Lever with Catch Button (Dual)
There are two switches on the port control lever (8),which gives you the capability of individual adjustment of the drive trim.•
Pressing the switches up moves the drive trim out while raising the boat’s bow.
•Pressing the switches down moves the drive trim in while lowering the boat’s bow.
The catch buttons (9–optional) disconnect a “catch” so that the drives can be trimmed into the BEACH and LIFT positions.

Re: Volvo penta throttle question

It’s been a few years, but my recollection is that the circled buttons are “trim override” buttons.

When operating VP duo-prop outdrives, it could be possible to trim the drive up far enough that the rear prop begins to break the surface of the water, and a less than astute operator wouldn’t notice the loss of performance and possible prop ventilation and burning. To avoid this, the allowable trim range was limited to something like -5 degrees to + 12 degrees when using the handle mounted trim buttons only.

If you wanted to trim up further than this, say for beaching or loading the boat on a trailer, both the trim button on the throttle handle and the trim override button needed to be pressed simultaneously. Trimming down is always a one button affair.
