Found a Boat!

We found a boat we all like, 2001 Carver 396 MY. I have to go down to Florida on January 8th for sea trial and survey and hopefully it goes well. We will close 2 weeks after and as soon as our house sells we will be on or way! We are all super excited for the lifestyle change and the warm weather! I keep saying we, it will be my wife and I with our 14 year old son who is probably the most excited! We checked out about 6 marina's when we were there in October ad have decided that Regatta Pointe Marina in Palmetto is where we want to be. Hopefully have some good neighbors!

Re: Found a Boat!

They look like nice boats. May all your ups and downs be on top of the waves.

I live aboard. Beats any neighborhood I've seen. And it's easy to change neighbors.

Re: Found a Boat!

If you are just looking for congratulations, you are in the right place. If you want honest feedback, join one of the many powerboat forums.

Please look at the ergonomics of this boat. I know it has a lot of "creature comforts" but how will you board from a dock or get to the bow in an emergency?

Make sure your survey person is independent, NOT recommended by the broker or seller. Remember, they will see you only once, but they may do a lot of business with the broker... These boats are known to have issues with water in the exhaust/engines. Make sure the boat is hauled out of the water for the survey so the bottom and drives can be checked. These hulls are cored and water intrusion can be an issue. A survey in the water will never find this issue.
