Found - 52' Ferrocement Boat - FL

Hey Everyone,

I just found out about a boat that was found in FL on the Gulf coast in the marshes. I'm going to post some information about the boat here. If anyone knows of a friend who had a ferrocement boat and lost it to one of the hurricanes, their baby is still alive!!

Here is the info on the boat. You can contact me directly to verify the identity of the boat if you are the owner or know the owner. I'm going to keep some info secret, so the real owner can positively ID the boat before I put him/her in touch with the person who found it.

The Hailing Port is St. Petersberg, Fla.
Lenght :52'
Hull Depth: 7'
Hull Breath: 17'
Gross tonnage: 38
Net tonnage: 30
The Docs expired Oct. 31, 2005.

If you are the owner of this vessel, please provide me with the name of the builder, as it appears on your USCG documentation. If you can match it, I'll put you in touch with the person who has recovered your vessel.

Sean, why the mystery?
You should be able to go online at http://www.st.nmfs.gov/st1/commercia...g_vessel2.html
and generate the name of the owner of record, or get contact information from there.

Nice salvage claim: "Hi, I found a 52' boat!" <G> Unless those swamps are protected wetland$, ouch.

The mystery is because I didn't find it. I have the information through someone else who did find it. I thought I'd put it up here in case anyone somehow through this forum might know the rightful owner.

The owner is listed (name only), but other details such as address, etc... are missing.

I wanted to put this out there before the person who has found the vessel goes and contacts the insurance company or whatever... just to be kind.

It could belong to Bubba Whartz

Hi Sean,
Just noticed your inquiry. Could it belong to Bubba Whartz? He lives in the Tampa Bay area, I believe if what I read in "Southwinds" and "Lattitudes and Attitudes" is correct. Morgan Steinmetz is someone who would know if Bubba lost his ferrocement boat or not. Good luck in your quest.

Bubba sold what was left of his boat for a 12 pack.

I know it's an old thread but I couldn't help myself.
