Seems the cargo ship has arrived but Susie cant get her engine started to go alongside for the lift off.
Trying to get it going again..
If not the ship will have to manouver to a position where it will drift down to get her in its lee and try to lift her off as the hulls meet.. Dodgey operation.
Best wishes Susie.. Be strong..

I don't see anywhere what's happening with DHL Starlight. Is it scuttled or drifting?

Re: The GGR race, discussion and news

For the record, the name of the ship is the Tian **. Apparently, they did have to drift down onto Susie's boat, as she was unable to get the engine going. (Perhaps the batteries had been flooded when the water ingress occurred.)

Here's what McIntyre had to say following Sat Phone contact, "McIntyre said: "She was in shock and during a dramatic phone call didn't want to abandon the boat. But we had to make her realise it was more serious than she thought."" From the GGR website.

Ann

The second name of the ship is spelled capital ef, little yu, something CF's spam filter replaces with *'s.

Tian **.... https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais...ssel:TIAN%20FU China to Puerto Madryn, Argentina, via Estrecho de Magallanes, with wind farm equipment.

Scuttling? One would hope so... simple matter of breaking the engine salt water intake hose as you step off.... bit of an article of faith though.... you need to be sure you are getting off... otherwise.....

Amazing ... won't let me say **.... ok first letter 'f' second letter 'u'..

Re: The GGR race, discussion and news

And also , wind farm turbine blades are delicate cargo... I am advised by a friend (a CF Member)who manges ships such as this for Cosco that all crane work loading and discharging is done by ship's crew so they are very experienced at handling those cranes...

I don't think the master needs suggestions from 'race control' on this matter... fom the GGR site... ''4. Susie now preparing for CRANE LIFT as SUGGESTED BY GGR' sheesh....

vvvvv Photo of a similar ship with a deck cargo of turbine blades...

Ping, a long time ago I acted as Mayday relay for a vessel with a medical emergency far out to sea... back in the days when 15 meters was an active band. I had a very hard time convincing the folks back in the States that it was a legitimate call... the yacht's name was UP YOURS!
