Brisbane to Whitsundays

Hi guys, I am a newbie to this site.I have been reading it for a while and amazed at how helpful everyone is.I have a 28 ft powerboat , it is a twin hull with 200 hp motors.I am very keen to take it up the coast from where I live at Bribie island to the Whitsundays and plan to be away for 3-4 weeks.I was wondering if anyone who has done this trip could help me with a rough itinerary, including the must visit places and any dangers that I might encounter on the way. Hoping I can get some good advice, thank you mickb1611

Re: Brisbane to Whitsundays

G'day Mick,
welcome to the site, its a great resource. You dont advise of your experience and in my book that counts when people as for advise. We have done the trip several times and depending on what you want to see your list of things to see and do can alter considerably.
One thing to consider is how often do you need to fuel. This is most important when passage planning on knowing where you can obtain fuel. I would highly recomend a book called "Robs Passage Planner." It is an excellent publication with distance between anchorages. Chart references, VMR contact details, Marinas, etc. We would be lost without ours. The other publications I would recomend are "The Curtis Coast" and Alan Lucas's "The coral coast".
As you own a power boat you may cover more sea miles than I do on our sailboat so your destiinations may alter. Regardless for the first part of your tirp I would probably go from Moreton Bay to Mooloolaba then from Mooloolaba to Fraser Island crossing the Wide Bay Bar. From there are so many destinations I would hate to pick for you.
