Help decipher Navionics wind display

Can someone explain what the red and the white dot mean on the heading dial/display? The manual doesn't say peep on this and I can't figure it out.

My guess would be max gust direction over that last 30 seconds or so but its just seems too erratic for that. Normally the dots are fairly centred on the wind direction needle but others it seems way off.

Lastly, how would I use the information it gave me?
