Your preferred chart vendors

Choose your primary source(s) of cartography. Comments welcome on why you made the choices you did and alternatives you would consider.

I put myself down for Navionics because they have some of the best coverage for the inland lakes and rivers I frequent.

Re: Your preferred chart vendors

I have Navionics for their excellent coverage of the UK and Europe in a single package attached to my Raymarine C80 plotter. Of course I still have paper charts which are almost without exception Admiralty charts but I use them less and less and don't bother to update them.

Now we are just about to put an iPAD with Navionics onboard so that we have the most up to date charts every time we connect to wifi.

So a great question, but the answer as always is more complex than a poll can suggest.

Re: Your preferred chart vendors

Interesting. Part of the reason for me asking is that B&G chartplotters have a narrower range of cartography options than Raymarine.

I'm trying to figure out if it matters. Maybe that's a different question.

For us (New England waters right now) Navionics Platinum+ was a clear winner. Rich data for managing depth contours, land satellite overlays, and much more. Very impressive on the Zeus 3.

Re: Your preferred chart vendors

I have previously only used Garmin and will continue to have a Garmin chartplotter at the nav station for redundancy. But, as part of my refit I am installing new Raymarine electronics.

I am following close here to see what everyone's experience is with other charts. I have been leaning towards Navionics but C-Map looks Good too.

I plan to continue to cruise Gulf coast, East coast, Bahamas, Caribbean.

Hope see additional posts here.
