12 volt Hook

I have a 12 volt hooka diving compressor (12 Amp operating).
Rather than take a battery on deck, I would like to wire in something that is stowed below, wired to an appropriate plug in the cockpit.
Any advice out there about the cable thickness and length? Type of plugs, fuse and switch?
A couple of links to eBay would be fantastic...

12 amps at 12 volts, are you sure? That's less than 1/5th of a horsepower. I've never seen a compressor, capable of providing air for any sort of meaningful use, that didn't pull at least 1/2 horsepower. Unless you're just lying still, doing no work, and never going below about 8-10 ft, I question if that compressor will provide the air that you need.

Yes, it is just designed for hull cleaning so depth is not an issue.
