Re: Smartgauge vs Mastervolt Easyview-5 vs Simarine Pico

Power monitoring is knowledge, and knowledge is power...;-)

However, in our experience it's a good habit to often question the monitoring. The devices don't "know" anything, they only do math...

Re: Smartgauge vs Mastervolt Easyview-5 vs Simarine Pico

Set the TTG averaging on the BMV to 0...you'll be much happier.

Re: Smartgauge vs Mastervolt Easyview-5 vs Simarine Pico

We'll, it sounds like you could do a capacity test if you wanted to, so there's at least one...;-)

And being aware of the effect of high discharge rates has on the effective capacity is not a big...

Re: Smartgauge vs Mastervolt Easyview-5 vs Simarine Pico

The BMV work great for monitoring SOC, if correctly programmed and recently synced. Need to know how to use them for capacity testing, and do so occasionally to know what you have, and reprogram as...

Re: Smartgauge vs Mastervolt Easyview-5 vs Simarine Pico

Hope to report back soon. We've gotten sidetracked with work, always trying to keep up.

Short summary is that while Simarine is very sexy looking, there are a lot of unfinished firmware issues to...

Re: Smartgauge vs Mastervolt Easyview-5 vs Simarine Pico

Going off my memory
(Jack, my test bench guy will be making a list of all this stuff):
Victron: you put in the CEF, it doesn't change it.
Philippi: you put in a CEF as a starting point, and it...

Re: Smartgauge vs Mastervolt Easyview-5 vs Simarine Pico

So true. FWIW, in our Firefly cycle testing we kept getting a "blip" at the end of the SOC curve (tracked on our Victron VRM portal) where it wasn't counting enough AH's back in, and then suddenly...

Re: Smartgauge vs Mastervolt Easyview-5 vs Simarine Pico

Yes, patience, thanks! We've actually been doing quite a bit of testing, however want to give the mfg's the chance to complete & send firmware updates to fix issues we've discovered, before we nail...

Re: Smartgauge vs Mastervolt Easyview-5 vs Simarine Pico

The SOC % accuracy of the Victron is cut & dried....it is a matter of how accurately it is programmed. It just simply does the math...the AH's used subtracted from the programmed-in battery...

Re: Smartgauge vs Mastervolt Easyview-5 vs Simarine Pico

Sorry to have been MIA, we've been swamped.

Note that on our test bench we're using FF or other Pb, no Li.

To answer your question about the Lithionics cutoff, the "RVC" (Reserve...

Re: Smartgauge vs Mastervolt Easyview-5 vs Simarine Pico

Some (like Victron) often use 10.8V instead. Ah-wise, it's almost no difference.

Re: Smartgauge vs Mastervolt Easyview-5 vs Simarine Pico

I should have mentioned that for the Firefly we use 10.5V as 100% discharged. We have been cycling our shop demo battery 100% 2-3 times a day for weeks. Recharging to 14.4V until current <1A. ...

Re: Smartgauge vs Mastervolt Easyview-5 vs Simarine Pico

The Victron is currently the most accurate, as we have it manually dialed in to the known parameters of the test battery. It simply does the math with the numbers you put in, so "garbage in, garbage...

Re: Smartgauge vs Mastervolt Easyview-5 vs Simarine Pico

It's been slow going here, taking time to continually update our testing bench/system while trying to keep up with actual paying work. However we currently have the following running at the same...

Re: Smartgauge vs Mastervolt Easyview-5 vs Simarine Pico

FWIW, we'll also be adding a Smartgauge to our increasingly complicated testing bench. I think john61ct is on to something regarding the Simarine SOC/Peukerts compensation, however we'll have to...

Re: Smartgauge vs Mastervolt Easyview-5 vs Simarine Pico

Ahoy AHoy,

We'll report more info soon. Our monitor system ace was traveling last week.

This week we're getting Simarine, Victron, Philippi, and Masterview all set up to run simultaneously...

Re: Smartgauge vs Mastervolt Easyview-5 vs Simarine Pico

Sounds like you have it all planned out.

Yes, that's a nice feature of the Victron. FWIW, long before Victron had an Li battery of their own, we worked with them to supply Genasun GLi for...

Re: Smartgauge vs Mastervolt Easyview-5 vs Simarine Pico

Both Victron and MV have been fine with working with us to use their products with our Lithionics batteries. For many years we've been putting them (the batteries) into otherwise all-Victron or...

Re: Smartgauge vs Mastervolt Easyview-5 vs Simarine Pico

So far we've been testing the Simarine vs. the Victron BMV on our testing bench. At first the Simarine SOC was WAY off, and the parameters aren't adjustable. However they do point this out in their...

Re: Smartgauge vs Mastervolt Easyview-5 vs Simarine Pico

We will be looking at the adjustability of those "auto reset" parameters, on both MV & Simarine. These are all adjustable on the Victron BMV (and some others), which allows some flexibility as to...

Re: Smartgauge vs Mastervolt Easyview-5 vs Simarine Pico

If you have Blue Sky Energy controllers, with most models you can add their IPN Pro monitor that includes a 500A shunt. We don't sell a lot of them but do keep a couple in stock
