Steve Tuccio

I started looking at this forum a few years ago, when I was entertaining the idea of getting a sailboat. In early 2016, I did purchase a boat and eventually posted here for some advice about getting...

Re: What happened to the "small" "Affordable" cruisers?

When searching for a boat four years ago, I set search parameters of 32-40ft. There were plenty of boats in my price range, i.e., less than 40K, but none that struck my fancy. First boat I looked at...

Re: Universal M18 freshwater pump

Thanks, everyone! I know the dipstick IDs the block. Thought it was Z500, but could well be 600. I'll recheck. There are a few Kubota places in my general vicinity, so will make some calls tomorrow.

Universal M18 freshwater pump

On CF for years, first time with a question.

While motoring out the inlet yesterday, there was a sudden, loud screech from below. I quickly handed off the helm and jumped below to see the belt...

Broken exhaust

Had a smoke condition when leaving my mooring. Turned back. Upon investigating, I discovered this. Can't tell whether its sheared or not. Guessing it is. Will I need new parts, or could these be...

Re: Newbie from OC, NJ

There is an Ocean County in NJ as well, although I've never heard it referred to as OC. Maybe a local Jersey thing. I'm a Brooklyn-born NYC native.

Re: Why are lurkers not joining..

I'm always signed in, but rarely comment, which would seem to qualify as lurking! I joined the forum a couple of years before I even owned a boat, with the express purpose of learning more about...

Re: Assistance needed in Annapolis this Wed

Well, it's been a busy two days, between driving down from NY yesterday morning and getting everything squared away. But, I'm in the slip. Wifi working! As luck would have it, the boat was sitting...

Re: It's official.....I have a fun vessel for summer!!

Good luck, Mike! I spent the last season sailing on the Hudson and the Upper and Lower Bays. Lots of fun.

Re: Assistance needed in Annapolis this Wed

Really appreciate all of the advice and words of encouragement from everyone!

I've mostly been a reader on CF, gathering knowledge and info over the past several years. Now that I'm moving aboard...

Re: Assistance needed in Annapolis this Wed

Thanks, everyone, for the advice. Feeling better already!

Bow-to would probably be easier for me, but given the setup, would rather be stern-to.

Taking a spin around the area and getting a feel...

Assistance needed in Annapolis this Wed

Hoping someone will be in a position to lend me a hand this Wednesday, Apr 5. My new-to-me boat is launching and going into a slip at the marina. Problem is that my docking experience is limited to...

Re: Avg Bottom Job Price

Figured I would just add to this old thread, rather than begin a new one on this common question ...

In January I closed on a Bristol 31.1, my first boat, and she lies on the hard in Maryland....

Re: Bill Belichick names new boat "7 RINGS"

Like and admire him or not, he's got the seven rings. At least a couple came with the New York Football Giants! And, concurring with above, the boat is rather modest for someone of his means. Just...

Re: Docks with just posts - singlehanded

If only docking were as easy as parallel parking! Been doing that for forty-five years on the streets of NYC. If a car will physically fit in a spot, I can park it.

I don't know whether rub rails...

Re: Docks with just posts - singlehanded

I have limited experience with docking generally -- J24 on a floating dock with fingers -- and none with pilings-only slips. The Bristol 31.1 I just closed on has no rubrail. The high teak toerail...

Surveyors in Annapolis

Can anyone make recommendations for a surveyor in Annapolis? I punched up a list on the web, but I am not familiar with the area or reputability of those listed.

Would appreciate it if I could...

Thanks for that link, John Trusty. RedFeather, you may have already looked at it, but using the link I found this website for a surveyor in Northport. He has impressive credentials and the site is...

Re: shivs

Didn't mean to poke fun at you personally, Thinwater, but the word 'shiv' is something I normally associate with Rikers Island, rather than some of the other islands discussed in this forum! Just...
