As when towing a boat with a dinghy, go in reverse with the line over the bow. Otherwise the dinghy wants to spin and the force is not applied.

I would agree that the cost of maintenance probably averages 10%, when buying though, I'd add 25% to fix what they survey misses and refit as you see appropriate the first year.

If you buy a boat with air conditioning, don't expect to run it unless you are at the dock or are running a generator. They take too much power, hence the vents and fans.
