What to get for my wife for our week on a boat

My wife and I will be doing a sailing school in BVI in January. I'm trying to get a few Christmas presents to support that. She likes a Kindle for books and has that.

I've gotten snazzy floating sunglasses strap and gloves.

I'd appreciate any other suggestions for small things that come in handy I'm not thinking about. We'll go back down again in March for another week.

Some decent sailing gloves would be a start.

Dramamine (could be for a joke, could be really handy)

Have fun!

I asked my wife for you;-)
1. long sleeve uv shirt to help prevent the discomfort of sunburn usually associated with holidays in the tropics.
2. A comfort of home to have on the boat during the course. Whether that is a playlist of her favourite music, a special treat or meal. Something that makes her feel at home, that might be difficult to find there. For my wife it would be her favourite brand of Earl Grey tea.

Re: What to get for my wife for our week on a boat

We just got back from 2 weeks of ASA101-114 classes in Grenada and I think the number 1 thing my wife liked that I got her was a good insulated water bottle (I got her the S'Well style, however, I would get one with a large opening next to allow ice to go into easier).

I got her good gloves (we never wore them and we were in 20-30 knot winds), the kindle (never really read - too busy sailing, practicing, and learning), the UV shirts (worn every day) and didn't talk much about any of those items, however, the water bottle was something she has told all of her friends about.

Have fun learning!!! We have already booked are first solo charter taking our family out in March.

Decent quality image stabilized binoculars.

If she has a favorite champagne, bring in two bottles. One to celebrate on the first night; the other, for the last.

Sorry to chime in. You joined in 2012? Are you from Indiana? Are you a doctor?
Does your wife want to sail?

Sorry for the questions, but I don't quite understand what you mean when you state "to support that".

Without knowing more details, all I can suggest from my experience of knowing how most women think about a life spent bouncing on waves (moderators aside), is that maybe you should offer her a "ticket home" as a present.

Merry Christmas.

How about “gifts a woman might appreciate having while on a sailboat”

I don’t get it. Are you making a blanket statement that women don’t enjoy cruising and she should just go home? Not sure you really need to know how we arrived at choosing to pursue sailing as a hobby in order to make suggestions of what a woman might appreciate having on a boat for a week.

Everyone else has been doing a great job fielding the question and i’ve Already purchased several of the suggestions and will be bringing her favorite tea and coffee.

These fit most cell phones, and they FLOAT. I use mine all the time. Extra room for some cash or a couple of credit cards.
