A little late to this party, but took a picture of my bulkhead. A little art is fun, but can not fit much on a small boat. We haven't redone the cushions yet, trying to decide between red or seafoam...

Sorry took so long to reply. I've looked and looked but cannot find who I bought the carving from. I believe it is from an Hawaii company. If you do a search for wall hung wood carvings, a bunch of cool stuff comes up. Still looking, will post if I find it .

Wow, I need to learn how to sew! I"ve seen some beautiful upholstery work on this thread! We keep things as clean and simple as possible with only functional items sitting around. But for some changeable color, I got my husband to make some lightweight wood frames and I covered them in fabric using wood staples. They are mounted on any wall-type surface. When I get tired of them, I just change them out. That's my only "décor" besides pillows b/c I don't want anything sitting around that will collect dust.

Wow! this was a popular discussion! Over the years, we re redecorated/model the Eagle. If we move off the boat, I been thinking about pimping out the boat a bit more.

The Eagle was very stark shippy cold when we bought her, so we decided to brighten warm her up a bit. Being we are not much in to nautical marine stuff, we did the boat using mostly land stuff, but trying to keeping the nautical feel. After all it is a boat. We re varnish/painted/textured the boat from bow to stern.

The galley/kitchen was first as the boat was an AC electric power hog, so took out the electric stove, oven and refrigeration. Converted stove/oven to propane, and the refrigerator to AC/DC. My wife wanted regular double sink, and slate counter tops. The boat had electric heat only, so we installed a 100,000 btu diesel hot water furnace size dwon to 0 F, and carpeted the whole boat, including the engine room, to keep our pedicure toes nice and warm.

The master bed/state room was next, which we did not change except to re varnish and paint/texture the ceiling with new light fixtures and my wife made the quilts and curtains. At the same time we did the other two bed rooms. The hall was all teak which made it dark, so we wall papers the hall to brighten it. We converted the manual toilets to electric which made my wife extremely happy.

We had our youngest daughter and three grand children live with us, so we remodeled the stern deck adding additional refrigeration/freezer/sink, canvas enclosed and heated for additional usable space. Since the picture, in the salon, my wife made new curtains, the old where so drab, that are sort of the same color as the master bed quilt, added book selves, converted the table so it can be lowered raised, and new lighting. We had hopes for a disco ball but it was a little to much.

The pilot house we up dated the electronics and had to rewire the electrical panel as it would not pass AYBC. That was a real bitch of a job.

I just finished this installation of a Vitrifrigo refrigerator/freezer on a Grand Banks trawler. The owner is an older lady who can no longer get down on her knees to get that bottle from the back of the fridge. She is thrilled with this unit. It has drawers rather than doors. The top is a freezer, the bottom is a refrigerator. AC/DC, LED lighting, she just plucks what she wants from the drawer and smiles.

I've been wondering about those drawer units for a sailboat. Is the locking mechanism secure enough to take some heavy weather bashing?

DeepFrz, Yes, I believe so. Though they come with a flimsy, foam-like tape on the bearing surface (to reduce scratching the stainless steel, the two latches, left and right, firmly and securely snap into place and prevent the drawers from opening. When released and pushed back out of the way, they are completely out of the way. I especially was glad that when rotated out of the way, the door stop on the cabinet side did not come in contact with the adjacent cabinet. It's a very nice piece of engineering.

Further, the compressor and cooling coils are well built and located in the bottom, back of the lower, refrigerator door area. I installed a teak louvered vent on the lower side of the zero-clearance cabinet to allow inspection and cleaning. I glued some velcro hook side tape to the back of the louvered vent and used a 3M white "scrubby" pad as a removable air filter on the intake. The exhaust rises vertically up the back of the unit and vents out above the top drawer through vents in the front. The louvered vent uses those small magnets from Rockler to secure the louvered door to the cabinet, making inspections very simple, and cleaning of the air vent is simply ripping it off the velcro, rinsing it under the faucet, shaking the water out and pressing the scrub pad back on the velcro. There is a drain hose that exits the back, bottom of the cabinet and drains into the engine room bilge, for when the unit defrosts. It's a very clean machine. All the woman at my yacht club are jealous. The unit costs about $2400, and is worth every penny. Both the freezer and the reefer are pretty large. Google it for details.
