Canine Madness on a Small Boat

Ok, I would not recommend it for everyone, or maybe for anyone who is not already certifiable.... but;

Recently, in addition to Cara the Wonder Dog, we had custody of two other Irish Setters for a week. Pippen and Sadie had both been aboard before and knew the drill, but never overnight or for any length of time! And never THREE at a time.

Can I just say I think I will be wiping up red fur for the next month?

They filled the cockpit pretty well as you can see and in the cabin we just stowed them on rugs in the quarter berth where they could watch but were (mostly) out of the way.

Needless to say after the first hour the birds who usually cluster around our stern found other places to dwell!

That's why we have short haired dogs, chihuahua and chihuahua/miniature weenie dog mix. Great watch dogs.

They love going on the boat. Get down to the marina, open the car door and they are first on the boat.

Wow, one queensland heeler is plenty of dogs on my 40 footer.
If you lay the dogs end-to-end are they as long as the boat?

Sadly, Irish Setters are my crack dogs. It's an addiction I can't break, no matter HOW hard I try!

Honestly, they are hard to find, expensive to obtain, they wreck havoc with your personal life...

You can't imagine how many time I have wished my Dad had hooked me on retrievers, or heelers or any of a number of other, more civilized breeds!

But once yer hooked there's no going back ; -)

and they ARE beautiful!

well... at about 4' to 5' in length if they stretch... that equals around 12' of dog, on our Cal28... so not QUITE half the length of the boat...

you are not sane. that is a given , as you have boat and goggies. but with furry goggies, one is able to make sweaters and shirts and stuff woollie for wearing and warmth and earn a lil dough.........
@sarafina--bubba doesnt let me have half a 41 ft boat-- you are in good shape.....he is only a 16 pound maine coon mix cat......
you goggie folks might just have something... but then bubba does goggie tricks and uses a litter box .....
he stretches out to over 3 1/2 ft of feline when he stretches long...
and with felines, one is able to laugh at funny cat sites, like lolcats./aka i can has cheezburger.com

Doggone it, Whats the problem. We collect our dog,s hair and weave it into a new anchor rode every winter. (Just kidding!) so... how can one dog lose that much hair and not look like the top of my head?

rofl--labs love water. you will be hard pressed to stay dry and upright, unless the lab is well trained and doesnt get excited by water.....
