Re: Weber Q1200 Grill on a boat

I'm about to bail from the Magma, funny my problem is not hot enough and not staying lit, and this is my third Magma over the years.

The Q1200, is it an ignition powered by a battery, or one of those push button snap piezo things?

The owner of Weber has his boat in a local Marina here. We put one of my watermakers on it. Maybe I could ask him his input.

Hey, stand in line buddy, I'm still trying to finagle one of those ceramic Kamando Joe BigJoes in trade for a few pre-filters.

Hows the trip going and where are you both now? Miss talking to you. Love and hugs to Renee.

The Weber Q1200 has a nice battery powered ignition button. It's quiet and lights 1st push every time.

Weber does not make a rail mount.

If you have a 1"inch hand rail you can use a
Magma T10680 Catalina dual extended horizontal round rail mount.

We purchased ours for $90 with shipping from BoatersLand.com

Re: Weber Q1200 Grill on a boat

Got the Q1200. Love it. The cast iron grates really put a char on better than the stainless grates of my old grill. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Re: Weber Q1200 Grill on a boat

I think you have sold me on the Weber, and likely I can harvest the rail mount off of my Magma.
I do like the battery ignition, seems those Piezo snap things don't last long for me.

Re: Weber Q1200 Grill on a boat

The connectors on the ignitor do seem to be a weak point to me in a marine environment. My to do list has a dab of sealant on each.

Re: Weber Q1200 Grill on a boat

We compared the Weber to the large magna Cabo Stainless and the Weber was lighter. Found one on ebay shipped for 139. It's a great grill

Was it a one off, if not, mind a link? I've looked and couldn't find one for close to that.

Better yet, give him a link to this thread & explain Weber need to design & sell some rail mounts.

Re: Weber Q1200 Grill on a boat

Right now you can get a Kuuma Stow-n-go 125 on Amazon for $67, which is about 60% off the regular price. Toss in the rail mount and you have a decent though small grill for $99.
