Rogue Waves in Lake Michigan

Great story of the sinking of the Pizzazz a 65' Chris Craft Constellation with underwater pics of the wreck.

I personaly saw that boat in Saugatuck a week or so before it sunk. I could not beleive that it was in the water in the condition that it was in. I thought that it was being used as a floating cottage. The hull was in very poor condition.

I have heard that there is a video of it going around in circles with part of the bow broken off but I have not been able to find it.

I saw the video when it was news here in Michigan. As far as a "rogue wave" - NO WAY. About the only thing that would cause a wave build up that day is a Rogue Wake. As IrwinSailor can attest, we will get some large waves, partially "Rogue" on really wavy days but in general the waves are really consistent. Now, you can take a perfectly calm day on this lake in the summer and have 3 footers in the afternoon due solely to boat wake. My cabin is just east of Sable point, there isn't any land mass or shoal to cause a wave change.

The article states that the yacht was "meticulesly maintained". I saw it first hand and it was anything but. I wonder if insurance fraud could be a possibility?

Heck! I can see the planks bulging from here. And maybe even some dry rot up around the fore gunnel.

A little Rot is a understatement! I love those old wood Chris*Crafts and look at all of that I see. This one was as bad as any that I have seen.
