And so Ladies and Gentlemen, we have closed out 2017 with another head scratcher of a story. Ba da bing...ba do boom.

I think it was a financial thing for this gentleman. Glad he made it out alive. I'm not a cynical person by nature...but is there just the slighest chance that he read the story of our 2 illustrious ladies who drifted for months and months?

Will be interesting to see what comes of his story. He looks like a decent enough chap. Cat looks healthy.

It appears that being aimlessly adrift in the Pacific may be becoming a "thing"...Rimas, the whacky ladies, and now this guy. Will we see this fad increase in 2018!? 😞

Maybe those drawn to being trendy could start going for records...oldest adrift, youngest, smallest boat... 😆

The source of this story is a newspaper in UK is only one step up above the likes of the Sun, Mirror, Express, and Daily Mail. There is the potential for them to have purposely omitted facts for the benefit of the story.

Think the Pacific ends at OZ and New Guinea.. once past the islands it becomes the Indian Ocean.. unless they've moved something..

The original source is in french, he was rescued by the SNSM of the Reunion island. I read about it on the french media and wanted to post the story here, but for an unknown reason I am unable to start a new thread.

Probably there is a lesson here, about emergency and communications equipment, redundancy and so on ...
Pretty obvious that even $100 would be beyond his budget. Probably spent his last $ on food. Boat probably cost nothing.

That's weird. Identical posts nearly 10mins apart. No idea how that happened. Obviously I didn't sit there and write it twice. Probably a glitch in the Matrix or something.

My comment about the source link, as a little tongue-in-cheek anyway. I presume wherever they picked the story up has a bit more info.

Only to the south. North of New Guinea, it's still the Pacific all the way to SE Asia.

(But yes, in this case he was in the Indian Ocean)

This may well be the most significant factor in the individuals survival.

If he started out with eight cats it equates to a consumption of one cat per month. Does anyone know the nutritional value of the various breeds of cat?
