Last week I soloed and did exactly how you described- I wrapped a trailing line in the prop with my main still in its cover. What did I do? I got out my oars and rowed over to a dock and got my prop unwrapped. Granted, thats easy with a small outboard. I think what we are talking about in this thread is resourcefulness and redundancy. When your alone you cannot depend on others, so you have to have a plan B and a plan C. When going out I like to depend on Sails, outboard and oars for getting where I want to go. Man overboard- depend on quick reflexes, windward helm, a trailing line and life jacket.
BTW- since I got into the prop problem, I have the main at least part of the way up coming and going out of the marina. I depower it just before the slip if at all possible. But I see how it could be a problem too. Just have multiple "outs".

Having started this thread I picked up some crew.... ah well. Great sail and it sure was nice to have someone to man the helm anchoring on unfamiliar rock in a some current (1 - 2 knots or so).

In the meantime though I definitely got mentally prepared and while out for the last couple of days was always monitoring to see where I needed the help - the only real point being the anchoring.

So MarkJ - have yet to stand at the bow and holler - it'll happen
