Used cqr up in New England thought it was great. brought the boat to the chesapeake and dragged the cqr in the soupey sift mud. Switched to the Danforth and was fine. A bigger cqr may have solved the problem. Surface area and bottom type will skew a anchor review. My Bruce performed very well both up north and on the bay. Not as good on harder bottoms. Now I'm using Manson 60 and the Bruce 30kgbruce is secondary with a fortress fx 37 on a stern rail. It's been a evolution I think this is a very solid belts and suspenders set up. 3 rhodes one 3/8 220 feet g4 chain with plaited line. Second rhodes are 50 feet of 3/8 stainless and 250 of 3/4 3strand 50 feet of 5/15 g4 and 150 feet if 3/4. I think I remembered that right.

The Oday 32 is a tubby, fat, CC boat that will never win any races. But I also dont ask it to. 75 diesel, 35 water, 38 holding. 9.5 nm per gallon, 0.65 gals per hour. I put a 20hp get home outboard on it cause I wasnt sure the the diesel was solid. That was 3 years ago. The new nissian 20 only has 5 hours on it. Currently putting steering and remote controls in a 10' caribee RIB so the 20 wont seize up just sitting there. sorry for the thread drift..

We have never had much luck with CQR anchors, It was maybe us not the CQR but we have used a Danforth and so far no problems in almost all types of bottoms. We also carried a Luke rock hook that was very helpfull in the bottoms the danforth was not good in !There was a Manson on the Defever we sold a while back, and after useing that in The Bahamas, and Mexico last year, we will be changeing our anchors with our next boat !! I will still carry my danforths, but my primary anchor will be a Manson, Delta, Rocna(spl?) style after useing one Im sold these anchors set so well and so easy Im really sold on them ! and Im hard to change from my tryed and true !!! just a old sailor who learned something NEW !! LOL
