Salutations

Greetings Everyone! I'm a 21 year-old college student in southern New Mexico. I am currently restoring, and living aboard a columbia 26 mk2 in southern NM (Elephant Butte Lake). I've been around boats all my life, but just started sailing in the past few years. I live and work at a marina, (Finance internship). Had lurked around looking for answers to a few specific questions over the years, but now that I'm fully restoring and living aboard, I have enough questions that I ought to contribute back!
Like everyone else, I like to think I have a 5-year plan: after finishing school to jump aboard a boat and sail the seas. crewing with someone would be a good experience. There is an awesome community at the lake here, and I want to extend my network to include everyone here!

Excited to be part of this worldwide group of the very best bilgerats and skallywags the Internet has to offer. Best of luck, and fresh winds to all of you in your travels!

Re: Salutations

Welcome aboard, you may want to check out the Columbia owners' social group here too. Search threads here too for Columbia 26, there may be some useful info for you there. I started with a Columbia 24 MK1 when I was a little younger than you!

Re: Salutations

Welcome jiiibjaaab , a good friend of mine sailed his Columbia 26 down to Mexico and lived down there for 5 yrs. He loved it . You mentioned crewing , you being in NM might not have heard about a mag called Latitude 38 . You can get it on line and they also have a thing called L'ectronic Lat . that has weekly up dates , anyway back to the crewing they have a crew list section that you can sing up for . They also organize some events , one is called the Baja HaHa . People seek crew for that one because there are some 24 hr. legs . Another event is the Pacific Puddle Jump . Well good luck on your journey and keep us posted .

Re: Salutations

HI, jiiibjaaab, welcome aboard CF. Good on ya for already having got a boat and being working on it. If you want to cruise, you'll most likely make a good one.
