Hi from Waikiki, West Australia

Hi All,

We're from Waikiki, West Australia which is about 30km south of Fremantle.

We have recently bought a 30 year old Tayana Vancouver 42, a very solid vessel but one which requires quite a considerable amount of work ranging from mechanical issues and electrical problems through to osmosis correction, in addition to stripping out 30 years worth of redundant wiring, piping and equipment.

We're not seasoned sailors but have spent our lives in, on or under the water fishing, snorkelling, scuba diving and surfing as well as sailing within sight of land for about ten years. Competitive sailors would be dismayed at our sail trim on occasion but we travel with comfort in mind.

We're here to learn from others as well as sharing our experiences as we go. Looking forward to exchanging information with all salts, old and new!

Hello Gandalf,
is that the Grey? Glad you are here, and hope that you can glean some wisdom from others on the site.

Aloha and welcome aboard!
You surprised me. I didn't know there was a Waikiki in Australia too.
I too am redoing a 42 footer and should be up there now doing some glassing.
regards,

Hi and welcome fellow Aussies,
I just finished redoing a 45' Roberts after 2 years of hard labour. If I can help in any way let me know.
All the best
