Hi from Townsville

Hi everybody
I have been reading blogs from this site for what seems like forever. The help provided to fellow sailors reinforces my philosophy, what goes round comes round.
A bit of a run down on my current position.
Raced dinghies since childhood, graduated to sailboards when they were all the rage. Never very interested in yachts as consider them boring to race.
My partner has long had the dream to get his cat and sail the world. I am sure this will return our sanity after 15 years of business . What reinforces this dream is 3 friends from around Aus have recently left on their home ports.
Now with the children gone we are selling our business, buying boat plans and building our dream.
I anticipate being on the water in 2 years (plan A).
As I have only really hung around racing sailors, I have a lot to learn in that time.
If anyone is coming to Townsville I would love to meet them so that they can impart their knowledge to me.
Thanks for all the good wishes that I know will come.
Helen

Hi Helen,
Pleased to be the first to pass on those good wishes and trust you achieve the dream. Building is good fun and nothing better when monies tight and you do end up with a boat you truly know inside out.
But in current world climate there are lots of crsuising boats up for grabs at good prices - so buying as opposed to building just might bring that dream forward a few years......
Good luck
JOHN
