Ciao a Tutti !

Hi, I'm from Italy and decided to join this forum because ouside Italy there is the real sailing world, in the sunny country sailing is still considered an elite hobby, not a way of life. Everything about sailing is extremely expensive and seems that running a shiny new boat is a must.

I feel from the posts in this forum sailing in its spirit of freedom and strength, not a way to show how rich a boat owner is.

Maybe I will read more than write, but hope you will bear with my english in case I need to post for any kind of assistance.

My dream is quite common, to own a 30' boat and sailing wherever I want with my family and friends. I told you, its a dream and I did not started even sleeping yet.

Hey Solingo....welcome to the forum.
I like the way you worded your post, and yes you are right....having an expensive shinny boat is not necessary to enjoy sailing.

Ciao Solingo, come va. I am an Italian dude living here in the US. I agree with you... Italians and European in general are " very show off", not all of them but a good part of them.
Sailing is very very expensive in Italy, I remember it very clearly in the old days when I was sailing there.
It is an elite sport for the rich, but if you walk the marinas and " marina bar" you will find the "real sailor" that truly loves sailing.
Where are you located in Italy?
Here in the US it is much more affordable that in Europe......move here:

Welcome to the forums!

I don't have any insight into European sailing whatsoever, but I do know that if this life is for you, you'll set foot on your first ocean-going vessel, shove off and experience the most surreal combination of bliss, tranquility and sheer, mortal terror that I believe a human can experience in this life.

It is oh, so worth it.
