Re: What Do You Do for a Living?

I couldn't help but notice a lot of us has had a stint as a bartender, myself included. I wonder if having a job as a bartender influenced your social drinking habits? For me, I now consume maybe (2) 6-packs of Corona, (6) mixed drinks (Tom Collins) and (3) glasses of wine per year.

Re: What Do You Do for a Living?

National sales manager for a company that designs, engineers and manufactures PLC-controllled sawmill machinery. Prior to that, 17 years as a regional sales manager for high alloy steel and fabrication company. Sailing for about 16 years. 2 daughters, 5 grandkids and same wife for 35 years, who btw is shown on our boat, Slowdance, top right page 59 of Lats & Atts April 2012 issue. Great thread!

I did a stint as a bartender in a club, as well as some waitressing, and it certainly brought home the advantages of being very moderate in drinking.

Re: What Do You Do for a Living?

I brought cheap chinese electronics , wholesale direct to the people of europe, though i enjoyed working on a fishing boat in my youth far more, paid less, but the stress was less! Now I'm taking time out to cruise , will worry about work n money in a few years time.

I've never tended bar and never waited on tables. Not sure what to make of it, but it is what it is. But my drinking habits are about the same as yours.

The dock neighbors have never complained when I take my TAs out to celebrate the conclusion of the spring quarter. We don't call them "chicks," of course. The university prefers the term "Peer Educators."

Yes, it's nice to peer at those young educators. Too bad the bay is too cold for them to be peered at in bikinis, but still, nothing so nice as a smart pretty TA.
